Essential Membership Emails

The minimum email sequences for onboarding and retaining paying members.

By James Schramko

If you have a membership you will need to make sure you onboard people in a reasonable manner. Also you will want to cater to rebills and absence.

These emails are for paying clients of your membership.

Here is a bare minimum suggestion of emails and triggers for your membership emails modeled from my James Schramko membership.

General Sequences to trigger

A) Make sure annual members get added to a billing reminder sequence

This will email clients just prior to re-billing and remind them about the upcoming payment.

Subject: Hi [First name], your membership to [your membership] will renew in a short time.

Hi [First name], your membership to JamesSchramko.com will renew in a short time.

Your Membership Type: [Membership type]

What's included in your membership:

  • [List benefits]

You don't need to do anything; your membership will renew automatically.

If you need to change your payment method, no longer wish to be a member, or if you have any questions, please send an email to [support] and [support name] will assist you.

I thank you again for your support, I look forward to helping your business flourish.

Regards,

[Your name]

B) If you send physical gifts - make sure you create a task to a team member or automate this

C) From date of join, add a tag to be included in member news which you send fresh each week as a broadcast

D) Create a task for you or whomever is the face of the membership to make a text or Loom welcome message

E) Create a rule if a member becomes inactive, add to slipping away sequence. This will be the churn buster here of your membership.

This is generally set to 11 days of absence. Set this trigger in your email or membership platform.

You will see an over 80% open rate with this email and it will make you a fortune over the years.

The email is:

Subject: you ok?

[First name] how are you doing?
